its not working.

by Lilah Wild @ freestylewitchcraft.com OK, so you set up your cast, it's flung out there upon the cosmos, and nothing's happening. What gives?

"You're not trying hard enough" is often the first thing that comes to mind, but let's examine nuance, shall we?

Maybe you're being too quick to brand your spell a failure (and while it's good to make honest, down-to-earth assessments of where you've been and where you want to go, magick wilts under the harsh lamp of scrutiny).

Maybe your emotions are blocking out a truth you don't want to face up to, and deep down you know there are underlying problems with your goal that you just don't want to admit. Ex.: a charming, cheating boyfriend whom you have great affection for, and you're trying to keep faithful to you, even though you know he's really a worm.

Maybe there's a greater lesson to be learned from not getting what you wanted. Ex.: a project that you like that never seems to get off the ground no matter how many candles you light, and you later realize that it's taking time away from doing something you love.

Maybe your desires just don't coincide with the universal momentum at the time of the spell and you need to be more realistic with what you want. Ex.: casting for a nice apartment during an affordable rent crisis, although it never hurts to try tilting the odds in your favor).

And, maybe the spell is working after all, but in a way, possibly much better, that you can't see at the moment. Ex.: trying to get published in a specific magazine that rejects you, but finding out later a much better publication has taken interest in your work.

It could be, ultimately, you just need to go about it in a different way - maybe you need to make it more general, or more specific, or find a different visualization, or whatever. Remember, chaos means there is no final assessment, so there's always another way.
